Confluent Cloud for Government Achieves FedRAMP Moderate: Mission-Ready Data Streaming for Federal Agencies

Written By

Federal agencies must perform a high-stakes balancing act: Modernize legacy systems, break down data silos, and deliver real-time citizen services—all while operating under strict security and compliance requirements with constrained budgets and staff.

Today, we're announcing that Confluent Cloud for Government (CCG) is now available on the FedRAMP Marketplace, <TO BE UPDATED WITH THE NEW MARKETPLACE LINK> with FedRAMP Moderate authorization achieved through the competitive FedRAMP 20x Pilot program. This milestone means federal, state, local, and tribal government agencies—as well as commercial organizations supporting them—can now deploy enterprise-grade data streaming infrastructure in days, not months, and be confident that it meets rigorous federal security standards.

The Confluent Advantage: Fully Managed Meets Mission-Ready

Unlike self-managed Apache Kafka® deployments or legacy messaging systems, CCG delivers:

  • Zero Operational Overhead: Our cloud-native, fully managed platform eliminates the burden of infrastructure management, patching, and scaling. Your teams focus on mission outcomes, not cluster operations—which is critical when government IT teams are already stretched thin.

  • Proven Cost Efficiency: Agencies adopting CCG avoid the total cost of ownership associated with self-managed infrastructure. There’s no need for dedicated ops teams, no over-provisioned capacity, and no emergency scaling costs—which contributes 40%–70% in cost savings. Pay only for what you use with transparent, predictable pricing.

  • Enterprise-Grade Reliability: Built on battle-tested Kafka technology that powers the world's largest streaming workloads with a 99.99% uptime service level agreement (SLA).

  • Continuous Compliance: Through the FedRAMP 20x program, we’ve implemented automated, real-time compliance reporting that provides continuous assurance of our security posture—going beyond traditional point-in-time assessments to give your agency ongoing visibility.

Why This Matters for You

FedRAMP Moderate authorization isn't just a compliance checkbox; it's a prerequisite for approximately 80% of federal cloud service contracts. But compliance alone doesn't modernize agencies. The ability to connect legacy systems with modern applications in real time is what transforms government operations and enables them to:

  • Respond to threats and events as they happen. Stream data from edge devices, sensors, and operational systems for real-time situational awareness across defense, law enforcement, and emergency response.

  • Break down data silos across departments. Enable secure, real-time data sharing between agencies and legacy systems without costly point-to-point integrations.

  • Deliver modern citizen experiences. Power responsive, personalized services by treating data as continuously updating streams rather than static snapshots.
